The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has commenced strategic discussions with the Lagos State Health sector to expand resident registration across the State, with a special focus on newborns, vulnerable groups, and other residents accessing services within healthcare facilities.
As part of the engagement process, LASRRA has begun a series of meetings with key institutions within the Lagos State Health sector. The collaboration formally commenced with a courtesy and strategic meeting at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Alausa, Ikeja where the GM, LASRRA, Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola (Mrs.) and her team met with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Dr. (Mrs.) Olukemi Ogunyemi, Permanent Secretary, Dr. Dayo Lajide and other members of the Ministry’s top management team. Discussions centered on integrating resident registration processes into healthcare touchpoints, particularly at birth and during routine healthcare interactions.
Following this, LASRRA also paid a visit to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA in Yaba yesterday, 2nd February 2026 where the General Manager intimated her plans to the Permanent Secretary, Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustapha, MNI and his team. This is aimed to further align efforts around primary healthcare facilities, which serve as critical points of contact for residents across communities in the State.
The Agency has also announced plans to extend these engagements to all health districts across Lagos State, ensuring that the initiative is fully embedded within the State’s healthcare delivery framework.
This engagement is part of LASRRA’s ongoing efforts to ensure comprehensive, accurate, and inclusive registration of all residents in Lagos State. By partnering with health sector institutions—both public and private—LASRRA seeks to leverage existing healthcare touchpoints to expand its resident registration services, especially for underserved and hard-to-reach populations
The proposed partnership will explore ways to integrate residents’ registration processes within health facilities and which in turn will support effective planning and policy implementation by the Lagos State Government.
Speaking on the development, Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola reaffirmed the commitment to building strong inter-agency collaborations that place residents at the center of governance and service delivery. “A robust residents’ database is critical to improving healthcare planning, emergency response, social services, and overall quality of life in the State. There is need to leverage healthcare facilities as registration hubs. We also want to ensure that no resident is left behind in the State’s identity and data ecosystem, while strengthening the availability of accurate and comprehensive data for effective planning, service delivery and policy formulation”, she said.
